National Day the Music Died

Today, I pay homage to Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. Richardson (The Big Bopper) who died in a plane crash on February 3, 1959.

#NationalDayTheMusicDied
I often wonder what these three artists could have accomplished if they’d simply taken the long way to their next tour, if they’d hopped a bus instead of an airplane on that snowy day fifty-eight years ago today. Think about it, all three just getting started but their deaths left such a mark on the world that they have been immortalized in one of the most iconic American anthems, American Pie by Don McLean.

To have impacted so many in such a short time is something many artists dream of but never attain.

So, here’s to Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens.
